THE LAUNCH OF CHLOÉ ARTS
Edition 1: Mie Olise Kjærgaard
Introducing Chloé Arts: an initiative continuing the house’s legacy of female empowerment. Its mission is to celebrate the achievement of outstanding female talent, nurture selected emerging artists, and create unexpected interdisciplinary conversations across different fields of the Arts.
For this first edition, Chloé and Chemena Kamali invite the Danish artist Mie Olise Kjærgaard.
Kjærgaard works in painting, occasionally sculptural objects and installation. Her large scale paintings depict subjects of female liberation — women who tore off the corset to ride a bike, play tennis or music. Women who dare living their own lives, experiencing life from the inside out, women seen through the female gaze.
“Chloé is about intuition, freedom, and the celebration of women. Mie’s work speaks to all these elements. Her paintings portray women who make their own defined choices,” says Chloé Creative Director, Chemena Kamali.
“I always thought that, as women, we could succeed independently. I fought for this personal freedom of choice. Creating Chloé is my proudest achievement, even though I still ask myself how, as a young woman, I managed to do all that! I always told women, ‘You must dare!’" says Chloé Founder, Gaby Aghion.
Eight paintings, seven existing and one exclusively commissioned by Chloé, are on view at the Chloé Paris flagship store, a visual conversation coinciding with the first collection of Chemena Kamali for the house.
